Our 50th Annual Flower Show 2016

Bideford Gardener’s Club

The new name since January 2015 for the former Bideford & District Cacti & Pot Plant Club. Welcome to our first Website! We will use it to keep you informed of our activities and welcome your feedback and comments.

With a long history since 1959 of providing keen local gardeners with regular meetings, events and trips to places of interest. The Club originally known as Bideford Cactus Club and undergone several name changes to embrace growing needs of its members became Bideford & District Cacti & Pot Plant Club in 1971 and since then, yours truly has been Secretary. The Club has been broadening its range of subjects and speakers to embrace as many horticulture related areas as possible and even on occasions into local history as well.

At the Club’s Annual General Meeting in December 2014 we made the big move to become Bideford Gardener’s Club and since this move we have attracted many new members.

Over the years we have been running trips and holidays travelling as far afield as the Italian Lakes, Holland, Austria, Germany and visited  several International Floriade’s. Today our trips are a little more conservative but always to somewhere of great interest.

Our history of running Flower Shows also dates back to 1966 starting as a charity show for a local church and today is the only remaining show in the town. It features a broad range of produce and handicrafts and significantly hosts the National Begonia Society’s South West Show bringing exhibitors and their fabulous exhibits from all over the South West and South Wales.

We hope you have found this of enough interest to you to become a member and look forward to your feedback through our Contact Page.

Thanks for looking at the site. Mike Avis Secretary/Treasurer
