SECRETARY'S NOTES

The David Domoney talk was a really fantastic evening it was too, thanks to all who brought items for the buffet. He had his new book on sale and signed all the copies for members and guests. Have to be honest we would have expected more members to attend but appreciate you can’t make every date we meet. What has transpired following this meeting and in consultation with those who did attend is that with the darker nights people would favour an afternoon meeting instead of the evenings. The talk on Gernaiums by Roy Kenwood in October and the floral demonstration with Jean Smale in November were also great afternoons and proved popular not having be out in the dark evenings.

We’ve managed to arrange that at the same venue, Bideford Methodist Church Hall and for the initial meetings will use the smaller Choir Room which is much more economical to heat and the right size for current numbers. If we get good attendance we can return to using the main room in the Spring. Meetings, commencing from 14th November, will start at 2.30pm with the entrance from the usual doors on Honestone Street Car Park. Don’t forget there is a fee to pay and for the duration of the meeting £3.50 covers up to 4 hours.

Our current Newsletter is still attached on the meetings and home pages and accessible through the button.

Best regards,       Mike Avis, Secretary & Editor.

Many thanks to Pauline Spencer for the Social Secretary role and organising speakers and the excellent Raffle at the Show. Our Show on 20th August 2023 was good although lacking in attendance. The next show on Sunday 18th August 2024 marks 40 years of our shows at The Pannier Market.
